Long before legalization, before the wellness trends, before dispensaries on every corner—Black communities were shaping cannabis culture. From jazz legends like Louis Armstrong, who smoked to enhance creativity, to the ’70s Blaxploitation films that made weed a symbol of rebellion, cannabis has been deeply intertwined with Black art, activism, and resistance.
